A BIT BETTER.

If you could not tell from my last few posts, I have been a bit stressed, to say the least. Things are going a bit better now, thankfully.

B. took me out for Thai food last night, which was appreciated after my incredibly hectic day. After getting back to my house, I washed up and found him playing my acoustic guitar (which I desperately need to learn to play) in my room. Cuddling and tired talking ensued. Last night made my week so much better.

(Sappy McSappenstein, I know.)

Adding to my lovely Thursday, Arae gave my bangs a much needed trim, so now they are all blunt and cute looking. I was also able to spend some time with her, Teeny, and Sarah.

I also received some great news: I was accepted into Daily 101, a once-a-week “class” which will allow me to write for The Daily, UW’s student newspaper (and eventually get paid for it, too)! After my Multimedia Lab this morning, my TA, whom I have had for a different Communications course, congratulated me for making it into Daily 101 and told me that he recommended me to the editor. What a sweet guy!

As for today, I am supposed to hear back from Urban Outfitters about whether or not they have decided to hire me. Seriously crossing my fingers. If it does not work out, that just means more job hunting for me. Woo.

After my Daily 101 meeting, I have plans to hang out with the boys and Abbibi tonight so we can watch Wallace and Gromit.

Thank goodness it is the weekend.

NEARLY 5 P.M.

  • I am currently sitting in Suzzallo Cafe having a cupcake and tea whilst waiting for my work shift to start in forty five minutes.
  • Before cupcake-ing, I went to a meeting for new journalism majors. In the near future, I will have to decide which concentration I will want to take. I am currently between Civic/Public Engagement and Global Affairs/Development.
  • I applied to be a writer for UW’s The Daily. Considering how late into the quarter it is, I probably will not get onboard until autumn quarter.
  • I do not understand doing Bible study in the middle of a school day. Then again, I have never been particularly religious.
  • I have been on a card making spree as of late with all the birthdays and Mother’s Day coming up.
  • Recommended listening of the day: The National’s High Violet. It is brilliant and very fitting for a gloomy day like today. Matt Berninger’s voice is just….gaaahhh.
  • This cupcake still does not compare to a Sprinkles dark chocolate. :(
  • I am quite sad that I will not get to spend quite as much time with friends from home because of semester and quarter system differences.
  • I miss everyone.
  • I have yet to go back to my dorm. Classes from 10:30 to 2:30, meeting from 3:00 to 4:30, work from 5:30 to 8:30, and an essay and homework to begin once I get back. Sounds fantastic.
  • Cuddles will definitely be demanded from my boy when I am finished with everything.

Photoset

The first snow of the season and we have had two consecutive snow days.

Loving life.

In other news: I am flying back to Los Angeles today!

and so it begins.

My parents left this morning, My mother didn’t start bawling and my dad didn’t get emotional, not like he ever does anyway. It went differently than I thought it would, but in a good way.

So I guess college is really starting now.

In other news, the majority of my floor is awesome and extremely friendly. The Girl From Down the Hall Lauren is officially my buddy. We have been dragging each other around on little adventures throughout the day which has been quite fun. We had a little floor pow wow in our lounge last night. Basically all of the guys showed up and none of the girls did, save Lauren and I. There were…interesting conversations. Everyone seemed to be quite lovely.

I am also officially registered for classes. I have Intro to Communications II,  Film: Directors, and second year German. Fifteen units all-in-all. I am pretty pleased with that. I also find out that I get to register early next quarter because I am technically a sophomore. Win.

Awesome News of the Day: This Providence is playing UW’s welcome week! I was quite excited to find that out. :)

Less Awesome News of the Day: my roommate is somewhat questionable right now.

Considering going to gym right now. I’ll probably end up at the bookstore instead.

college update:

  • It was a fifteen hour drive from Berkeley to Seattle. It took two hours extra because we got stuck in traffic on the way to Portland due to an OSU game. Then torrential rain and two serious near-car accidents. Fucking fuck. Never again.
  • Arrived in Seattle at one a.m. Sunday morning.
  • Began moving into my dorm.
  • Unpacked all of my shit. I brought ridiculous amounts of clothing. Why? I do not know. My room is tiny, but I am getting used to it. (I will post pictures if I am not feeling too lazy.) Basically, I moved in a week early because I have orientation on Wednesday. Since the official move-in day is next week, my building is basically empty, save for my RA and one girl down the hall.
  • Gave my dad a tour of UW today and he seemed to really love it. He said that it reminded him of Wilhemshoeher in Germany, which was the same vibe I got the first time I visited. He basically gave his nod of approval, which was nice. I think he understand why I chose to go here now.
  • I formally met The Girl Down the Hall. Her name is Lauren and she seems quite nice. We did this massive crossword puzzle our RA posted—that shit was crazy. There were words in different languages and whatnot. She is also into Salsa dancing. I have a feeling we are going to be buddies.
  • My only real valid complaint is that my building doesn’t pick up UW’s WiFi network. Meaning I do not have internet unless I am hooked up to the Ethernet in the wall. Narg.

In other news: I am living in one of the most beautiful cities in the U.S. Gah, I love it here.
